A Peek at the Placemats

This past Saturday, a number of our members met to sew. Many participated in creating placemats for Meals on Wheels. Marg, our Sewing Saturday chair, described the technique:

“The pattern is a quick, simple method of making 4 placemats from 4 fat quarters.  (Is similar to the mosaic method we did several years ago).  The 4 F.Q.’s are stacked up, 3 angled cuts are made and then each stack of cut fabric has the top one, two or three pieces moved to the bottom of their piles.  The pieces are sewn together and each has the fabrics showing up in a different spot than the one before.  After pressing, the placemat tops are ready to have batting and backing applied.  These can be quilted and finished with a binding or pillowcase turned, then quilted. ple method of making 4 placemats from 4 fat quarters. These can be quilted and finished with a binding or pillowcase turned, then quilted.”

We look forward to seeing these and more at our regular meeting Tuesday, Oct 22nd! Meeting starts at 7 pm and will be held at the Dryden Go-Getters Senior Centre on St Charles in Dryden. Join us!
