Placemat Purse Sewing Saturday took place on February 27, 2010 with Mary LaRocque as the facilitator. Mary gave us an easy lesson to follow using everyday placemats which were transformed with buttons, trims and doo-dads into clutches, totes and purses. The only limits to our creations was our own imaginations. Before we sat down and sewed, we were treated to some examples of Mary’s purses. Embellishments were added first and then the actual assembly took place. Many thanks to all those who willingly shared buttons, braid, appliques and ideas. The creative juices were really flowing by mid-morning and by late afternoon, you can see from the pictures, what we produced for our boutique at the quilt show. Many thanks to Mary for her expertise and generosity in sharing her ideas. And, to all those marvellous cooks, well, the food was terrific again!
