This year’s block of the month is a row quilt to be made from black and white fabrics plus a solid accent colour.
The diagrams below demonstrate a basic two colour version and one with a variety of fabrics plus an accent colour. Blocks and rows do not have to be arranged as illustrated but can be rearranged according to personal choice.
When going to print any of the foundation patterns, be sure the ‘Page Scaling’ option in your printer dialog box is set to ‘None’.
This should provide you the proper size of the image. Print 1 copy and measure the outside of the square. The actual size of the finished block solid outside lines) is printed on the bottom of the page. Measure the pattern for accuracy before proceeding.
General instructions and size options can be found here; for row instructions, click on the block name; for foundations patterns, click on the block thumbnail.

This block is a 8″ finished block. The arcs are foundation pieced. Click on the block for foundation pattern. Be sure to have your printer scaling set to “none.” Print page 1 of the pattern for each block required. You can make templates from page 2 for the inner (A1) and outer (D1) parts of the block. The template for D1 overlaps onto page 1 as it is exactly 8 1/2″ and would not fit completely on a single page. Re-assemble D1 ensuring the long sides are exactly 8 1/2″ with seam allowance. Construct the block in the same way as a Drunkards Path block.
